Mott Community College issued the following announcement.
Michael Odette, former Burton Police Chief, will be the new Chief for the Public Safety Department at Mott Community College (MCC). Odette replaces Theresa Stephens-Lock, who served the college as Chief from 2006 to January of 2020.
“Mott Community College is committed to creating and maintaining a safe environment for our students, employees and the community,” said MCC President, Dr. Beverly Walker-Griffea. “I am confident that Chief Odette will continue the outstanding work of our Public Safety Department, upholding our commitment to Community Policing and providing strong leadership for the future.”
“It is an honor to be chosen the Chief of MCC’s Public Safety Department,” said Odette. “The department, and its officers, represent the highest levels of professionalism and commitment to service. I look forward to maintaining and enhancing the Department’s reputation for excellence.”
Odette, most recently served as the Chief of the Burton Police Department. He has 25-plus years of law enforcement experience and is a graduate of the School of Police Staff and Command School at Eastern Michigan University, a graduate from Michigan Police Executive Development Seminar through FBI-LEEDA, and a graduate of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police – Police Executive and New Chiefs School. He has also served as an instructor at MCC’s Law Enforcement Regional Training Academy (LERTA) and at the Law Enforcement Officers Regional Training Commissions (LEORTC).
