With Michigan set to begin the motions of reopening its economy, there remain a number of questions in regard to the specific process.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is calling her plan "MI Safe Start" and has announced the state could begin reopening its economy soon. There is some confusion among business owners about which will types of businesses be able to open, and no dates were offered in the announcement 25FOX66 reported.

States across the nation have different criteria, with some preferring to open businesses such as hair salons and gyms at a later date than restaurants. The governor has provided a map in which she has arranged the state into different regions to reopen based on varying criteria. One such determining factor will be commuter traffic. The designation has placed Genesee County in the same category with metro Detroit. The designation is concerning to some business owners who believe being grouped in with Detroit means a slower reopening.

That is the case for small-business owner Sarah Wittbrodt, who owns Treasure Baskets in Grand Blanc.

“Coming into Treasure Baskets is better and safer than going into Kroger or a Walmart or Sam’s, where I can control the cleanliness way better than I believe a big-box store,” she said to 25FOX66.
