GENESEE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: Stomach Cancer Awareness

Genesee County Health Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 8.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 27,600 Americans will be affected by stomach cancer in 2020. This type of cancer is the third leading cancer cause of death. Stomach cancer typically affects older adults with 6 out of 10 diagnosis of stomach cancer being in individuals 65 years or older. Although this type of cancer has declined over the years it is important to take preventative measures to lower your risk! Find out how below.

Maintain a healthy weight

Get regular physical activity

Follow a healthy eating pattern

Avoid or limit alcohol intake

Avoid tobacco use
