Bentley Community School District recently issued the following announcement.
Bentley Bulldog Family:
Unfortunately, bus transportation this week continues to be a huge problem. We normally require four drivers; however, this past week we have been been barely getting by with three. Now, due to a necessary medical leave, we will be down to two drivers for today, Thursday, September 9th and Friday, September 10th. We expect that we will be back to four drivers by Monday.
However, to get through today and tomorrow, we will be releasing all secondary students early at 2:15 p.m. so the buses can get to their second Barhitte route on time. If you are able to pick your elementary child(ren) up from school today and tomorrow during drop off and pick up, that would be helpful. Please continue to be cautious and patient if you are picking your student up. Our staff is working very hard to ensure the safe and effective dismissal of all students.
We have reached out to surrounding districts, public school academies, Flint MTA, Camp Tamarack, and Michigan Education Transportation Services for assistance in finding additional drivers. If you or someone you know would like to drive a bus—even as a sub—we would gladly get you through the training. We recognize the shortage of drivers extends across the county and state. It is such an important job to have patient, kind people to care for our students and who can drive safely. Anybody who is interested should contact us at (810) 591-9120.
