Our fourth grade students throughout the district have had the privilege of participating in a Flag and Veterans Day presentation led by the local Marine Corp. League. The flag education program's goal is to educate our students on the history and honor of the American flag. The presentation included a video story of a young student writing an essay on the flag with interviews from a New York firefighter from 9/11 and an Olympic gold medalist. The members of the Marine Corp. League also explained the words of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rose Program. Finally, a flag folding demonstration and explanation was given by the Marine Veterans. All students also received a patriotic coloring book and flag.
The veterans and additional presenters did an outstanding job. Our students were attentive and respectful and learned a tremendous amount from these guest presenters.
