Flint mayor’s blue ribbon task force to advise on COVID-19 reopenings

Flint

A blue ribbon task force of at least 22 community leaders, professionals and residents will form recommendations on the safe reopening of businesses in Flint once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley formed the task force that will give advice on “when and how to safely bring the city back online as restrictions are eased,” according to a press release from the city of Flint.

The city of Flint previously implemented several ways to address the spreading of the coronavirus in Michigan, among them enforcing a curfew that remains in effect from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily, according to the press release.

Current members of the task force named in the press release include Maurice Davis, vice president of the Flint City Council; Kate Fields, the city council’s finance chair; Bryant Nolden, Genesee County commissioner; Dr. Lawrence Reynolds, medical adviser for the city of Flint; Phil Hart, police chief of the Flint Police Department; Ed Benning, general manager/chief executive officer of Mass Transportation Authority; and Gerard Burnash, executive director of the Flint Downtown Development Authority.
