The City of Flint recently announced that Flint City Hall has temporarily closed walk-in services to the public, according to CityOfFlint.com.
This action went in to effect Nov. 16 and was in response to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area.
“The unfortunate reality is that risk to exposure is climbing exponentially,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley, according to the city's website. “We will continue to respond proactively to protect our employees and the community.”
All city services will continue, and offices can be contacted by telephone and by appointment, if needed. Customer service is currently being offered through a new walk-up window between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Dr. Lawrence Reynolds, a medical advisor to the city, urges residents to maintain social-distancing practices by staying home and only having in-person contact with those in their immediate households, unless absolutely necessary. He also advised people to wear a mask at all times when they expect to come into contact with others outside their immediate households.
“We must, as individuals and as a community, make the active decision to limit our exposure to others and limit others’ exposure to us,” said Dr. Reynolds, according to Flint's website. “Remember: Even if you do not have symptoms, you still could infect those around you. This virus is still killing people, and it is causing lifelong, debilitating damage to those it infects.”
