City of Houghton issued the following announcement on Oct 28.
The City of Houghton has an open council position available. This seat fills an unexpired term that will expire on November 8, 2022.
Qualifications as stated in City Charter:
Section 2.3. Membership Qualifications. Any qualified voter of the city 18 years of age, or older, and a continuous resident of the City for 12 months immediately preceding the date of election, and not in default thereto shall be eligible to hold the office of Councilman.
Qualified, interested persons can apply by completing an application and submitting it to the city clerk by Friday, November 12, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. by mail: P.O. Box 606, Houghton, MI 49931, delivering it to the city office: 616 Shelden Avenue, Houghton, or by e-mail to: ann.vollrath@cityofhoughton.com.
Application for Council Position
Applications will be provided to the council for review, and the council will be asked to appoint one of the applicants at their meeting scheduled on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. Applicants are asked to attend the November 17 2021 council meeting to answer any questions council members may have.
