Clio Area Fire Department issued the following announcement on Feb 5.
The Clio Area Fire Dept. sends its deepest condolences and prayers to the family, friends, Flint Police Department and the entire Flint Community regarding the tragic loss of Captain Collin Birnie due to a auto accident last night.
Captain Birnie was a pillar of the community. A true public servant at heart who dedicated his life to his country and city for more than 30 years.
Captain Birnie, thank you for your service and incredible smile. You will not be forgotten.
