Bentley Community School District issued the following announcement on Feb 19.
On Wednesday, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released an Updated Masking Guidance for Michiganders [attached], which in relevant part stated:
Based on current conditions, MDHHS is expiring the Public Health Advisory on Masking in Indoor Public Settings, including school settings.
Thus, masks will be optional in Bentley starting Tuesday, February 22nd. However, masks will still be required on all school buses as this is a federal mandate.
We will continue to use quarantining and isolation measures when people are exposed or test positive as required by the health department. They are currently reviewing their guidelines in light of yesterday’s announcement by MDHHS, and which we will share should the current guidance changes.
As we enter the next stage of the pandemic, please help your children to remember the Golden Rule: treat others as you want to be treated. So many aspects of life have become politically charged and nobody should be teased for deciding to wear (or not wear) a mask. This is shared in the spirit of ensuring that we are all working together to help our youth be their personal best.
It has been a challenging two years navigating the murky waters of COVID. The Bentley Board of Education and all of us here in Bentley Community Schools are grateful for the support given and patience practiced by our community during the pandemic!
