Davison Community Schools issued the following announcement on Mar 15.
The Davison House of Cards FIRST Robotics Team 3534 has another blue banner to bring home following its championship win at Kettering University this weekend.
This is the second Kettering 2 win in a row for the House of Cards, and also its second straight tournament win due to the shortened 2020 and cancelled 2021 competition seasons. The team now has three coveted FIRST Blue Banners for tournament wins.
This was the first event of the Rapid React season. The House of Cards qualified third with a 9-3-0 record and were drafted to play with the 2nd ranked alliance captain team TroBots. The alliance went 6-0-0 in eliminations and scored an upset win over the #1 ranked alliance with extensive defense play.
The House of Cards then teamed up with their alliance partners, Team 3668 TroBots from Whitmore Lake and Team 5150 Hybrid Hornets from Kearsley, to win the championship.
The robot driver was Peyton Spodney, co-driver Michael Osterholzer, robot technician Marcus Zuccaro, and the human player Sydney Schneider. The team has 16 other great students who helped to design, build, wire and program their 2022 robot named Windmill Solitaire. Their combined effort resulted in the House of Cards receiving the Quality award. In Michigan district competition season week 2 of 6, the House of Cards are currently ranked 13th of 476 teams.
The House of Cards compete next at the Troy district event, April 1 and 2.
