“This year's Saginaw African Cultural Festival is the 54th annual event and it runs Friday, August 12 through Sunday, August 14.
This year, our theme is Nia, which means “purpose”. We'll have all kinds of African-centered and themed cultural activities and events, as well as food vendors, entertainment and activities. We’re going to have all kinds of children's activities and Saginaw STEM will be present. We will have horseback riding, reading opportunities, and there is a three-on-three basketball tournament. There's also going to be chess and we're bringing in a Black chess master. We’ll have all kinds of family-friendly, fun activities for the whole weekend. We will also have different food vendors and informational vendors.
We'll have nonprofits out here sharing information about what they do within the community, as well as Delta College, Saginaw Valley State University and Saginaw Public Schools. It’s going to be a really good time for the whole family and the exposure to African culture."
