HIV is a virus that, if left untreated, can lead to AIDS. HIV can affect anyone regardless of sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, gender, age, or geography. However, some people are more likely to get HIV than others based on risk factors including drug use, multiple sex partners, and previous STIs.
When you live in a community like Saginaw County with a higher-than-normal prevalence of HIV (Saginaw County is ranked 9th in Michigan), the chances of being exposed to the virus by having sex or sharing injection equipment with someone who has HIV is higher.
To better protect and support those living with HIV as well as stopping further spread of the disease in men and women, the Saginaw County Health Department offers the following as part of our ongoing harm reduction strategy:
RISK ASSESSMENT – We invite you to take an online risk assessment at https://saginawpublichealth.org/.../hiv-risk-assessment.pdf
