WASHINGTONCongressman Dan Kildee (MI-08), member of the Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Trade, issued the following statement after the Biden administration announced a Rapid Response Labor Mechanism petition against Goodyear SLP, S. de R.L. de C.V. in the city of San Luis Potosí:

“We must enforce existing trade agreements, including the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, to ensure workers have basic workplace rights. I fought to replace bad trade deals like NAFTA to better support Michigan and American workers.

“I applaud the Biden administration and Ambassador Tai for taking action to protect Mexican workers’ right to collectively bargain. Reports of fraud by the protection union during the recent vote at the Goodyear plant are disturbing and those who violated the rights of workers must be held accountable. I encourage a quick resolution to this issue to ensure workers can choose their own future.”
