FLINT—Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-08), member of the Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Trade, issued the following statement after the Biden administration announced a Rapid Response Labor Mechanism petition against Grupo Mexico at the San Martín mine in Zacatecas, Mexico:
“We must use every tool available in the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement to ensure workers have basic workplace rights, like fair wages and safe working conditions.
“Reports of workers being denied their rights to collectively bargain and freely associate are disturbing and must be addressed immediately. I applaud President Biden for taking action to protect Mexican workers’ rights. I admire the bravery of the workers at the San Martín mine in speaking out to improve working conditions.”
