Flushing Community Schools Education: 4,074 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 4,074 students enrolled in Flushing Community Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.1% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.3% of them were boys, and 48.7% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 76.4% of the Flushing Community Schools total enrollment.

Flushing Community Schools covers eight schools within Genesee County with its main office in Flushing. Among them, Flushing High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,278 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
