State Rep. David Martin announced today that the city of Davison has been awarded a state grant of nearly $105,000 to assist in identifying and replacing lead water service lines. The grant, provided by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy, is part of a program funded by federal Covid relief dollars.
“This grant is both an investment in infrastructure, as well as the health and well-being of our community,” stated Martin. “Investments like these are absolutely critical to maintaining the integrity of our water systems and ensuring access to clean water for generations to come.”
The grant will support Davison in continuing its lead service line replacement program by conducting field verification for about 125 service lines at properties where lead is suspected but not yet confirmed.
This initiative aligns with efforts to address aging infrastructure and protect public health in Davison, emphasizing the importance of sustainable water systems for the community's future well-being.
