Kristine Taylor, incumbent Thetford Township Treasurer, is seeking the Republican nomination for re-election to her seat for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.

Per Genesee County's unofficial candidate list, Taylor is running for election in the GOP primary against Julie A. Tack.

According to Taylor's campaign, "in her role as Township Treasurer, Kristine's primary objective is to bring updated policies and procedures to the Township board for approval. She is committed to enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the township's financial operations, ensuring that taxpayers' money is managed responsibly and transparently."

In a June 24 Facebook post, Taylor said her "prior experience managing the township financials for the last 4 years" has made her "experienced and ready to make more improvements to the township with a board that aligns with the values the township needs."

"I have been a dedicated and honest resident to Thetford township for the past 30 years and I look forward to serving you for another term," she added/

In a press release, Private Property Rights PAC — a political action committee whose "mission is to safeguard and promote the ownership and control of private property" — endorsed Taylor, stating that she "has demonstrated a profound commitment to the principles of property rights and governance that respect the rights of individual property owners" and praising her stance against government overreach.

Private Property Rights PAC Senior Adviser Madeline Morris expressed confidence in Taylor's commitment to private property rights and government transparency and accountability, predicting that she "will help protect the foundational rights that are vital to personal freedom and economic stability" in Thetford Township.

According to the Michigan Townships Association, the township treasurer's responsibilities include collecting real and personal property taxes, maintaining an account of township receipts and expenditures, and issuing township checks. Treasurers are elected to four-year terms.
