City of Saginaw issued the following announcement on Sept 1.

The 2021 summer season at Saginaw’s

Splash Park, located in the Frank N. Andersen Celebration Park, comes to an end on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. The park will be opened one final weekend, from 12:00–6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 3 and 12:00-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4. Saginaw residents have one more weekend to enjoy a fun, free, recreational experience in a safe and accessible environment for the entire family.

The Splash Park is completing its 12th year of service to the Saginaw community,

and has become a destination point for locals and visitors throughout the summer months. Due to staffing shortages, the park opened with limited hours this summer. Even with limited hours, residents were still able to cool off every weekend in the Splash Park and enjoy other favorite amenities such as exciting boulder climbing structures within the playscape areas and walking paths, with many added benches in scenic locations along the way.

Phil Karwat, Director of Public Services, commented, “We understand that many

families look forward to this free outdoor activity every summer. After being closed throughout 2020, I’m pleased that we were able to open this year and offer our citizens one of the most enjoyable outdoor recreational experiences in our area. The limited staffing created a few challenges for us, but I want to thank the dedicated crew members and city staff for a very successful season.”

Although the Splash Park is closing for the season, the Frank N. Andersen

Celebration Park will remain open to the public, including the Boulder Park for kids who like to climb, additional benches for seating and pathways connecting the park to the Saginaw River Walk. The pavilion area at the park can still be reserved through October 31 for those fall parties and harvest celebrations.

To reserve the picnic pavilion for private parties, please contact Heather Howe,

Public Services Specialist, at 989-759-1662.
