We gathered at the the Annual Ring by Nancy Holt (aka the Bird Cage, as known by students) on campus to mark the arrival of the Summer Solstice! Today, June 21st, at 1:37 pm marked the exact time we entered the summer season - shown here where the ring on the cage meets the ring on the ground.
This faithful astronomical event drew several onlookers who wanted to witness this change of seasons in an almost ceremonial reverence, sharing this moment with those around them.
The Annual Ring/Bird Cage is only one of the many different public installations on the campus of SVSU.
