Casey Kasem Day | Free CCO Credit
April 26th, 2008 was Casey Kasem Day in Fenton.
The FCC Special Events Committee reached out to Top 20 host Casey Kasem to help them reach their fundraising goals for a 3.5 million dollar addition to the Fenton Community Center back in 2008.
Kasem took the job because he had family in Fenton, and because he had worked for a time at the Larry Hamady Pure Food Market there, in which his family had a stake.
At a ceremony the day of the event, Kasem received a key to the city of Fenton, as well as proclamations from the governor and county commissioners.
A screening of a Scooby-Doo film also took place, featuring the voice talent of Kasem as Shaggy Rogers, and later that day Kasem appeared at a concert performed by Bad English's John Waite.
The event was a success. The new Fenton Community & Cultural Center opened in 2015, and it's gorgeous.
